Child Seat Safety Clinic

Many parents are unaware that motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death and injury of children. In fact, 7 out of 10 kids in child safety seats are not properly buckled in. However, through community education, we can all help change those numbers. Snell Motors, Blue Earth County, the City of Mankato, ISJ Regional Medical Center and Radio Mankato are committed to relaying the importance of child passenger safety.
Snell Motors has hosted Child Seat Safety Clinics to promote properly installed safety seats. At these events, trained staff and technicians ensure that child safety seats have not been recalled because of safety defect, that the seat is the right size for the child using it and also check that the seat was installed correctly. Staff also answers questions and directs parents to the correct information resources.

In addition to the car seat safety checks, there are also other activities and highlights including McGruff the Crime Dog, refreshments, law enforcement equipment displays, pumpkin painting and a children’s play area. For more information on the next Child Seat Safety Clinic, contact Anne Wolff at 507.304.6756 or awolff@snellmotors.com

Pile-It-On for the Echo Food Shelf
Snell Motors staff have volunteered in Pile It On during the North Mankato Fun Days parade since 2006 to help raise money and food donations for the Echo Food Shelf. The Emergency Community Help Organization (ECHO) provides food assistance to households in need in Blue Earth County and North Mankato. Today, the food shelf also provides help to people in Blue Earth County and North Mankato with both short and longer term needs and serves an average of 30-40 households per day. In 2009, 3,560 pounds of non-perishable items and a record amount of $4,269 in cash was raised, nearly doubling cash donations from previous years. In 2010, 3,120 pounds of non-perishable items and $2,653 in cash was collected.

Snell Auto Wash Grand Opening Fundraising Event

On Saturday, June 20, 2009, Snell Auto Wash teamed up with Mankato YMCA to bring in the Snell Auto Wash grand opening with a splash. Snell Auto Wash offered free-will donation Premium Auto Washes and more than 760 cars were washed in the day-long event. A fortunate grand opening participant even won a car!

Most importantly, more than $3,900 was raised for the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. The Strong Kids Campaign contributions are used to address the large subsidy in program and membership financial assistance and donations help give kids a chance to be involved in several sessions of youth programs.

Snell Employees and Families March for Babies

Snell also plays a role in raising money for the March of Dimes by participating in the local March for Babies. Each team does a variety of fundraisers to gather donations for the organization. All money raised for March for Babies helps fund research to prevent prematurity, birth defects and infant mortality. Each year, Team Snell raises money and walks to ensure that one day all babies will be born healthy!

Wellcome Manor Donation From Snell

Employees with Snell Motors give back to the community. The Snell Disney committee donated a variety of everyday items to Wellcome Manor Family Services in 2008. Everything from diapers to bikes was collected through the month of May. Those at Wellcome Manor say they're grateful for any help they can get. Gwen Wolters says, "Often times the women and children that come in to our program come with very little. The donation from Snell will have a huge impact on our program in giving us the ability as a non-profit to provide these sorts of things for our families". Wellcome Manor Family Services is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help women with substance abuse issues. While women are getting help, their kids are able to stay with them.
